How To Help

You can help support Dwa Fanm’s efforts to end discrimination, violence and other forms of injustice against women and girls in one or more of the following ways:

1. Make a contribution

Your donation to Dwa Fanm is greatly appreciated and will go a long way towards advancing our goal of a world free of violence and discrimination against women and girls. For example:
  • A gift of $50 will pay for a months worth of supplies needed for our domestic violence support groups, parenting support group, and Survivor Advocacy Group.
  • A $200 contribution will cover the utility expenses for our emergency safe dwelling for domestic violence survivors;
  • For $500, you can support our weekly radio program on Radio Soleil, which tackles pertinent social issues affecting women and educates the Haitian community about domestic violence, women’s rights, and ways to promote healthy and violence-free rela tionships;
  • An $850 contribution will cover costs associated with processing a VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) self-petition immigration visa for an immigrant survivor of domestic violence

2. Matching Gifts

Take advantage of your employer’s Matching Gift Program and double your donation!

Many companies and organizations offer matching gift programs as an incentive for employees to increase their charitable giving. Ask your Human Resources Department at work if they offer a matching gift program. If they do, ask for the proper from and send it, along with your donation, to Dwa Fanm. With company-sponsored matching gifts, your contribution can be automatically doubled!

3. Gifts in Honor & Memory

A gift to Dwa Fanm is a wonderful way to honor or memorialize someone important in your life. To give a gift in honor or memory, simply enter the person’s name in the dedication section of our donation page. There, you will also have the opportunity to send an e-card to the person you are honoring after you have completed making your donation.

4. Planned Giving

If you would like to designate Dwa Fanm as a beneficiary in your will, insurance policy, or retirement fund, please contact the Development Department at 718.230.4027.

5. Host a House Party

House parties provide a fun way to bring together friends and community members for a great cause. By hosting a party on behalf of Dwa Fanm, you will help raise funds, as well as our visibility in the community.

The party can be a barbeque, brunch, cocktail party, or picnic. Whatever you chose to host, you and your guests have the opportunity to have a great time while supporting our mission to empower women and girls with the freedom to define and control their own lives.
