Although women are the majority of the world's poor and the most vulnerable to violence, women are also the most likely to take action for change. Together, we're building bridges that span gender, race, class and ethnicity. Women lead by transforming their suffering into concrete efforts that make a difference— for all of us. You have our assurance that your contribution makes a real impact on the lives of women and girls. You can use this page to make a general tax-deductible donation to Dwa Fanm.

DOCUMENTARY VIDEOS FOR SALE

DES HOMMES ET DIEUX (OF MEN AND GODS)
KALFOU PLEZI PYE DEVAN

We are delighted to present the documentaries “Des Hommes et Dieux (Of Men and Gods)” and Kalfou Plezi Pye Devan (Children of the Streets) for sale on videocassette! All funds from sales will go to aiding our women and children!

Des Hommes et Dieux “Of Men and Gods” sheds light on an unexplored corner of Haitian society: The intersection between homosexuality and Vodou. In a culture where homosexuality is still largely taboo, the directors found charming and articulate subjects who reveal how Vodou ideology melds interacts their own sexuality, and helps them find their place in a larger cultural context.

A resident of France, Anne Lescot has studied Haitian Vodou for the past 10 years as an anthropologist, using video equipment as an ethnographic tool. In 1997, she settled in Haiti and worked on different projects for the UNESCO Slave Route Project. In 2001, she created, with Laurence Magloire, Digital LM a production company that has since released several programs on Haitian culture.

Rachele Magloire’s Kalfou Plezi Pye Devan (Haiti Entre le Plaisir et la Mort) “Children of the Streets”: In Haiti, 99.9% of children living on the streets have already had sexual relations at a young age. Both girls and boys become prostitutes as early as age seven or eight. Magloire’s film exposes the exploitation of children living in poverty and exposes the problem of Haitian children in prostitution.

Prize-winning producer Rachele Magloire began her career in front of the camera, as a reporter with Tele Haiti in 1987. Four years later, she became editor in chief and director of information at Television Nationale d’Haiti, but left after the 1991 coup d’etat that prompted many journalists to flee the country. She went to Canada, where she was a freelance journalist for La Presse and Le Devoir. Magloire co-founded a video production company, Productions Fanal.

Rachele Magloire has been working at the Canadian Broadcasting Television since 1990 as a producer for children program. Two years ago, she started going back to Haiti working on a documentary for Société Radio-Canada and Cirtef's serie, in collaboration with Productions Fanal. Magloire is the sister of fellow Dwa Fanm honoree Rachel Magloire, and lives in Haiti.
